Randonneuring is a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in Brevet cycling. (also known as Audax in the UK, NZ, Australia and Brazil).

Randonneuring falls somewhere between racing and touring. Randonneuring rides range in length from 100 kilometer to 1200 kilometer and longer Grand Randonnees. A randonneuring event must be completed within a minimum and maximum time window (only the maximum times are used on this site), but no winners are declared. If the timed results of the riders are posted they are listed in alphabetical order and not by order of finisher as in a race. The most common randonneuring event is the brevet (pronounced bruh-vey).

As you can see below, the time limits are very generous, but the clock is always running, whether the rider is moving or not. Traditionally these times are based on a 15 kph average on total time from the start of the ride to the end (not moving time) although times may vary for longer rides.

This site also provides challenges for vEveresting that provides a little more flexibility than the official everesting.cc site. There is also a section for long distance touring where you can ride at you own pace and track your progress using the distance chart. Check out the1200 km ride down the South Island of New Zealand
